We started the 2nd day with a 45 minute time limit; compared to the 30 we had originally planned. Thankfully St. James had opened at 9 a.m. so we were able to spend some time there without rushing. Our next stop at Peaceful Bend didn't open until 11 a.m. and we arrived about 20 minutes early (winning!). While we waited for them to open, we took in the scenic view just outside their back deck. Just beyond the trees is the named bend which runs behind the winery.

Our hostess, Jennifer, popped her head out as we rounded back to the front and asked us to "come on in!" She introduced us to owner, Katie as well. They were out of four of their wines so we went ahead and tried what they did have available. Y'all... they were a hit! We started off with Dry Creek (white)- a dry blend of Vignoles and Viognier (a French vine, it has scents of spring blossom/jasmine and hints of apricot/peach). This was a very well done wine. Whittenburg (white), a semi-sweet with hints of pineapple, cantaloupe and mango. Not too citrusy and just the right hint of cantaloupe! Meramec (red), dry blend of Norton and Chambourcin was a perfect blend of the two. Yadkin Creek (red), a semi-dry 'jammy' wine. I don't remember the berries they used but it was spot on. They used a stainless steel tank to make sure the flavors were well preserved. Huzzah Valley (red), a sweet rose' wine blended with Catawba and Concord grapes. It was by far the best "Concord" blend we had ever tried!

They offer dining and live music. To check out more, their website is: www.peacefulbend.com
